Friends of Historic Allen Chapel
Saturday July 31, 2010 6:30 pm
You’ll hear the cry, “Play Ball!” at this year’s Friends of Historic Allen Chapel fundraiser. The fun, food, and entertainment will all be baseball oriented, with popcorn, peanuts, and cracker jack, Bob Warn, ISU’s winningest baseball coach, singing and playing baseball songs, the classic, “Who’s on First?,” performed by Jerry Burns and friend, songs from “Damn Yankees” performed by Jackie Lynn, and baseball bloopers on a big-screen TV.
The baseball buffet will also include barbecue, hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, cheese, potato chips, tea, and coffee.
The Silent Auction will include antiques, jewelry, an elegant ceramic umbrella holder from the 1880s, a Garden tour and tea, M. A. Hadley pottery, and a barbecue dinner for 8 prepared by Chef Stephen Black, formerly of the Black Skillet.
Play Ball! will be Saturday, July 31, 6:30 pm, in the Heritage Lounge and Ballroom, Tirey Hall, at ISU. Cost is $55 per person, with reservations requested by Thursday, July 29, at 812 234-2718.
Come celebrate the new beginning of baseball in Terre Haute, share a good time, and support the restoration of Historic Allen Chapel, Terre Haute’s Landmark and National Register Treasure.
