Blue Ribbon Winner, Rob Robbins, Displays His Photography at Art Gallery in Rockville

A new display featuring the photography skills of Rob Robbins is now on display at the Art Gallery on the north side of the Square in Rockville.  This one-man show will be available until April 24.

He returned to his native Terre Haute after a forty-eight year hiatus.  "You can take the kid out of Terre Haute, but not Terre Haute out of the kid " is the motto of this photographer who "shoots to share".  He concentrates on capturing scenery and scenes just as he sees them, and is always looking for the unusual.  He has an outstanding ability to find beauty in the everyday.

His work has graced the pages in  the National Speleological  Society , the Nature Conservancy, and on the covers of the programs for North Alabama Land Trust and the Wabash Valley Community Band.  His talent reached international status when a band in London, England saw a particular photo and asked to use it on their popular CD "Shedload of Love's" CD entitled "Love and Affection".

He has received many awards including those from Columbia, Tennessee, the Wabash Valley Art Guild, Covered Bridge Art Association. plus a digital memory project "Visions & Voices" preserving the past and present for the future of Indiana State University

The Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (except closed Tuesday) and Sunday from 1 - 5 p.m.  For more information contact the Gallery at 765-569-9422.

Portraiture Classes Offered at Rockville Gallery

Julie Bricker, an Associate Member of the Covered Bridge Art Gallery, will be offering classes on Saturday, April 14th from 10:30 - 3:30. She has taught classes for over 20 years and has won numerous awards. While living in the Southwest, she was a member of the "Arizona Cowboy & Indian Artists". Currently she belongs to the Wabash Valley Art Guild and Covered Bridge Art Association. Her portraits of movie stars have been sold all over the world.

During the class, you will learn how to draw eyes that "sparkle" with life, proportions of the face, smiles that look real, drawing realistic hair, and shading - the key to three-dimensional drawing.

Bring a picture to draw from which has good detail or choose one from her collection. Bring drawing paper and pencils (both hard and soft lead) and a good eraser. Xerox/computer paper is fine.

Julie will give demonstrations and then provide you with individual attention.

Class is limited to 10 - fee is $25. Call the Gallery located on the north side of the Square at 765-569-9422 to reserve your spot or Julie Bricker at 812-442-0942.
