The Putnam County Public Library welcomes Jennifer Complo McNutt , Curator at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, who will give a Brown Bag presentation on issues surrounding Contemporary Native American Art on Wednesday,  June 6th at noon.

Jennifer has an MFA in painting from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, and joined the Eiteljorg Museum staff in 1991. Jennifer is responsible for the Eiteljorg  Fellowship for Natīve American Fine Art that provides support and national visibility for Native American artists. The fellowship is a $20,000 award given to five selected artist fellows whose work is then featured in the biennial Eiteljorg Fellowship Exhibition held in January. The mission of the fellowship program is to confront misperceptions and prove that Native culture is alive and dynamic today – beyond romanticized or conventional views of traditional native art forms -  and to dissolve the distinction between Native American and contemporary artists.
